ABout Therapy

 Therapy is a safe space for you to discuss whatever you need to explore in your life to work through something from the past, something you may currently be going through, or something you may be anticipating in the future. Everyone can benefit from talking with a therapist. I believe we never stop learning, growing, and changing until the day we die. Life is full of transitions, and highs and lows. I believe in everyone’s innate inner capacity to heal and live the lives they want and deserve to have.

I invite you to be open with me along the way and provide feedback so I know how you are feeling and can support you through to the end. The point of all this is that you are not alone in what it takes to heal, grow, and change.  I also believe in transparency and some personal disclosure if it serves to help you along your own healing path. I am open to any questions you have along the way. I believe in living honestly and authentically, so you can trust that how I show up with you is also who I am outside of the office.

I am trained in using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and EMDR. My Approach is always Client Centered. I strive to keep culturally competent and LGBTQ+ affirming. When it is appropriate I can help with solution focused approaches.

EMDR

“Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR therapy includes a set of standardized protocols that incorporate elements from many different treatment approaches.” (Source; Emdria.org)

EMDR can be used to help alleviate suffering from trauma, phobias, or a belief you know isn’t rational yet blocking you from something you want to do. I have received training from the Parnell Institute in Attachment Focused EMDR over the course of two years. I invite you to do some research on EMDR and to talk to me about what you want to work on or any questions you may have. EMDR works well when combined with traditional talk therapy.

I often combine EMDR with other interventions in a comprehensive ongoing therapeutic relationship. I also offer short term therapy, in which EMDR is the main focus and utilized modality to target specific issues in a short period of time.
